Vinyltriethoxysilane is an organosilane compound with the chemical formula CH₂=CHSi(OC₂H₅)₃. It contains a vinyl group (-CH=CH₂) attached to a silicon atom, along with three ethoxy groups.
Key aspects of vinyltriethoxysilane:
Vinyl Group (-CH=CH₂): Provides the vinyl functionality, which can undergo various reactions including polymerization and crosslinking.
Triethoxysilane Group (-Si(OC₂H5)₃): Contains three ethoxy (C₂H₅O-) groups that can undergo hydrolysis to form silanol groups for adhesion and bonding.

1.Vinyltriethoxysilane is used in the preparation of moisture-curing polymers(e.g. polyethylene).
2.It is used as an efficient adhesion promoter for various mineral-filled polymers, improving mechanical and electrical properties especially after exposure to moisture.
3.Vinyltriethoxysilane is used as modifier of polymer dispersions (e.g. styrene acrylics). After modification the dispersions show improved adhesion strength in wet conditions and wet scrub resistance.
4.It is widely used as moisture scavenger in sealants, because it reacts rapidly with water.
